18th Amendment

SECTION 1.

After one year from the ratification of this article the manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States and all territory subject to the jurisdiction thereof for beverage purposes is hereby prohibited.

SECTION 2.

The Congress and the several states shall have concurrent power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

SECTION 3.

This article shall be inoperative unless it shall have been ratified as an amendment to the Constitution by the legislatures of the several states, as provided in the Constitution, within seven years from the date of the submission hereof to the states by the Congress.
This amendment doesn't affect or relate to me now because it later got repealed to where alcoholic beverages weren't illegal anymore. Also doesn't relate to me because I don't drink, but I'm sure that every other person that drinks is happy about this being repealed.
I think this picture is funny because it looks like homer is dead or in shock because of a prohibition in Springfield. I'm sure a lot of people during that time felt the same way as homer did when he read the paper.
This cartoon is showing the opposite side of the prohibition. Showing that alcohol is bad for people and it can ruin lives. Which is really can if it is used wrong, but alcohol can be something to enjoy also. Like everything, it's all about the use of the object.
